Grigsby, Mary Kathleen "Kathie" Allegan, MI Mary Kathleen "Kathie" passed away Thursday, September 4, 2015 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was born April 7, 1949 in Allegan the daughter of John and Matilda (Wesaw) Shagonaby. Kathie had been a student at WMU and had also been a home health care worker for many years. She was a member of the Gun Lake Tribe of Potawatomi Indians. Kathie loved animals of all kinds, especially her dog Riley. On October 2, 1981 she married Kurtis Grigsby who survives. Also surviving are her children, Maureen Shagonaby of East Lansing and Codie (Nora) Grigsby of Wyoming; her niece and nephew, John and Jill Shagonaby; sister-in-law, Jane Shagonaby and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Douglas and John Shagonaby. Friends may visit with Kathie's family Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 4-8 P.M.at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Oakwood Cemetery in Allegan. Contributions in memory of Kathie may be made to the Allegan County Humane Society. Died Tuesday, August 29, 2006. Norm was born November 14, 1929 in Trowbridge Township, and had been a resident of Allegan most of his life.He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Norma (Emmons) Grigsby; his sister, Geraldine (Grigsby) DeHaan, and his sister-in-law; Joanne Grigsby. Norm spent his life in many businesses: Milk delivery, fuel oil delivery, heating and cooling, antique store, and a basket making supply business. He retired in 2004 and he and Esther enjoyed winters in Florida. Norm is survived by his wife of 57 years, Esther (Pedersen) Grigsby; his daughters, Cris (Bill Cronen) Green, Jill Woods, and Holly (Tim) Norman; his sons, Nick (Connie) Grigsby and Kurt (Kathie) Grigsby; his grandchildren, Joe Green of Arizona, Scott (Crystal) Woods and Dan Woods of Kalamazoo, Rita (Kyle) Gleason of Allegan, Cassie (Bryan) Simpson of Kalamazoo, Maureen Shagonaby of Lansing, Codie (Nora) Grigsby of Wyoming, MI, Abbey Norman (Mike Janes) of Alaska, and Nathan Norman of Portage; a great- granddaughter, Carlyn Simpson; his brother, Dale Grigsby of Columbia City, IN; his brother-in-law, George DeHaan of Allegan; his sister-in-law, Viola Onken; and his brother-in-law, Herm (Eva) Pedersen; and many nieces and nephews. At Norm's request cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service will be held for the family at Oakwood Cemetery in Allegan on Sunday, September 3 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lions Club and the American Cancer Society.

Grigsby, Esther 12/16/1932 - 12/30/2018 Kalamazoo Esther Hazel Grigsby (Pedersen) passed away peacefully in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the age of 86. Esther was born on December 16, 1932 in Fennville, Michigan. She married the love of her life Norman Grigsby in 1949. Esther and Norm were small business owners much of their lives, starting with a milk route when they were first married and eventually retiring from The NorEsta Cane and Reed in Allegan MI. Esther was a basket making teacher and active in her community. Esther was also a member of the Otsego Methodist Church. Esther is survived by her children, Cristine Green (Bill Cronen), Jill Woods (Mary McCreadie), Nick (Connie) Grigsby, Kurt Grigsby, Holly (Tim) Norman, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Grigsby (2006), parents Laurits and Anna Pedersen, brothers Herman, Carl, and Nelsey, sisters Viola, Della, and Francis, and her daughter-in-law Kathie Grigsby. A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 2-5pm, at the Royal Estates Community Clubhouse in Kalamazoo MI. In lieu of flowers, the family has designated the following charities to accept donations in her memory: American Cancer Society or Area 17 Special Olympics (in memory of her good friend Lamar Hacker). The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan and Rose Arbor for the care provided to her this past year.
