Deceased Name: Elaine Affleck Zitting Selander.
"TOGETHER AGAIN" .
SPRINGVILLE -Elaine Affleck Zitting Selander, 81, born January 19, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Charles Frederick Zitting and Minnie Affleck Zitting, died on April 14, 2007 at her residence in Springville, Utah. She and her husband, Jack R. Selander, who died September 12, 2002, had been receiving loving, compassionate care since 1999 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Daniel Niu of Springville, Utah. .
Elaine and Jack had been residents of North Ogden, Utah from 1953-1999. She graduated from West High School, SLC, Utah in 1943 and attended the University of Utah and Weber State College. She was raised by her mother and her Stepfather, George A. Rossiter, whom she looked up to, loved, and adored. She married Jack R. Selander on December 11, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct 30, 1956. .
She was a devoted wife, mother and example to her husband and family. She was a charitable, compassionate, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who was never too busy to help, or to serve others, her Church, or her community. .
Over the years, Elaine served her community and church in scouting and Primary callings, as well as 4H. She served many years in the special needs Primary in Ogden City, and absolutely loved children. She was also very proud to serve her community as an election judge for several years. Her membership and participation in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers gave her great joy. Her family will remember and benefit from her great dedication to genealogy and temple work. She and her husband, Jack served at the Ogden Temple Visitors Center, and later in the Temple Baptistery. .
As her children, we will remember our mother for the importance she placed on family and serving others. She truly devoted her entire adult life to serving her family members and making others happy. This gave her great joy. She loved camping, family trips, and being with her grandchildren. .
She and our father traveled many miles to be in attendance at their grandchildren's baby blessings, baptisms and special ordinances. We will be forever grateful for her example of using her time here on earth for things that are ever-lasting. .
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Frederick A Zitting and William A Zitting, her husband, Jack R. Selander, by her daughter, Janice Selander McEntire, Granddaughter, Moriah Leilani Niu, and Step-Grandson, Larry Shane Sainsbury. .
She is survived by children Jack and Carol Ann Selander of Hewitt, TX; Kelly S McEntire of Huntsville, UT; Laraine and Andrew Anderson of Pleasant View, UT; Larue and James Wade of Plain City, UT; James and Helen Selander of Park City, UT; Claudia and Daniel Niu of Springville, UT; and Julie and John Fleming of Mill Creek, WA.
