    • RUSSELL, Ph.D., Paul T. Passed away Monday, January 26, surrounded by his loving family. Paul is survived by his wife Joy Russell, his brother Ed Russell (Judy), his brother-in-law Jerry Fredgren (Lynn), his children David Russell (Jill), Danette Hickey (Jim), Donna Scarborough (Jim), Jerry Russell (Anita), his many grandchildren, and his one great-grandchild. Paul's interests in life were vast and varied, but in all these things he focused on education. He was a scholar of religion, active in developing many educational programs for the Presbyterian Church. He was elected to the Williamsburg School Board, and then was voted onto the Clermont Country Board of Education. Paul was a professor in the OBGYN department at UC, and later brought this knowledge to the Cincinnati Zoo, where he was a scientific advisor, an active member with the Junior Zoologist program and helped develop the Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife (CREW) program. Paul was a member of the first In Vitro Fertilization team at Christ Hospital. He was also deeply concerned with our environment and spent 15 years in pursuit of a safe closing to the Clermont County's toxic waste dump. For 30 years, he and his wife lived on a 55-acre farm, where Paul found immense joy in training his sheep dogs. However, music was Paul's life-long love. He played the tuba and baritone in five different bands; the Williamsburg Community Band, the Sycamore Community Band, the Shrine Band, the Oxford Community Band and the Marzan Quintet. His quiet, loving spirit and booming laugh will resonate in the lives of all who knew him-he will be truly missed. His family will hold a celebration of his life on Feb. 8, from 2 pm-5 pm, at Knolls of Oxford Commons. 6727 Contreras Road, Oxford, OH 45056. Donations may be made in Paul's name to the Christ Hospital Cardiology and Vascular Center.
