    In 1910, together, they planned to come to America to be married and establish their first home. They came to Danish relatives at Anoka, Minnesota in late July and were married 20 August 1910 in St. Paul, Minnesota where they lived under Gustav Adolf Eriksen enlisted in the Construction Quartermaster Corps of the US during World War I. Due to his mother's illness, he was called back to Denmark in 1919. He and his wife returned to Minnesota in April 1922. In 1934, the family moved to Jack County where Mr. Eriksen was engaged in the oil business. The family moved to Graham on 12 August 1937 where they lived until Mr. Eriksen returned to the Construction Corps at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 1940. In 1945, they were transferred to Camden, Arkansas living there until returning to Graham in 1950. The couple moved to Bedford in 1975.

    Gustav Adolf Eriksen was confirmed in the Methodist Church in 1892. He became a member of St Paul's Methodist Church in Vejle, Denmark in 1900.

    Survived by his wife; two sons - Gordon Eriksen and Stuart Eriksen; one daughter - Mrs. Loren Maples; three granddaughters; one grandson; one sister - Anna Ericksen de Hass of Copenhagen, Denmark; nieces and nephews in Denmark.

    Ruth Eriksen Maples, 93, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011 in Graham. A Celebration of Life service will be Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Richard Reed officiating. Entombment will be in the Maples Mausoleum in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

    Ruth was born October 30, 1918 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Gustav Adolf Eriksen and Ida Christine Anderson Eriksen. Ruth married Thomas Loren Maples, September 3, 1938 in the First United Methodist Church in Graham. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2006. Ruth worked with her husband in numerous family businesses including Maples Funeral Home from 1938 to 1955 as well as in real estate and investments in Graham. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 668, First United Methodist Church where she taught numerous classes, a member of Modern Martha Sunday School Class and sang in the choir for years.
    She was also a member of CLSC and she and her late husband Loren Maples were active in local, national and international Lion's Club activities.

    Survivors include; daughters, Anne Maples Schultz and husband Jerry of Graham, Nancee Maples Andrews and husband Charles of Highland Village; grandchildren, Erika Moore and husband Tim of Paducah, Brent Caudill and wife Suzy of Boerne, Charles Andrews II and wife Anna of Corinth, Kindra Dozier and husband Michael of New Braunfels; great grandchildren, Alyssa Moore, Benjamin Caudill, Rory Moore, Kaelyn Dozier, Emma Grace Andrews, and Acelyn Andrews; brothers, Stuart Eriksen of Bedford and Gordon Eriksen of Kalamazoo, MI.; nephew, Scott Eriksen of Bedford.

    Mrs. Maples was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kaye Maples Caudill and a granddaughter, Julie Carol Caudill.

    The Family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.

    Stuart Franklin Eriksen, 85, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at his home in Bedford. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

    Stuart was born January 17, 1927 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Gustav Adolf and Ida Christine Eriksen. He moved to Graham at the age of 4. Stuart served during World War II on the USS Grafton from 1944 to 1946 when honorably discharged from the United States Navy. He returned to Graham to find his one true love Thelma Christine McLaren and marry on November 1, 1947. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2010. Stuart joined the Texas Highway Patrol where he proudly served for 34 years until his retirement in 1989.

    Survivors include; son, Scott Eriksen and wife Veronica of Bedford; grandsons, Joey Eriksen of Bedford and Lee Anthony and wife Joanna Soto of North Richland Hills; great grandchildren, Carolina, Myla, Lee Anthony, Jr., Christian and Elena; brother, Gordon Eriksen of Kalamazoo, Michigan.

    Stuart (Pops) was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Eriksen Maples.

    The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Gordon died December 2, 2019 in Kalamazoo at the age of 96.

    He was born December 22, 1922 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the middle child of Danish immigrants, Gustav and Ida (Andersen) Eriksen.

    Gordon grew up in Graham, Texas.

    After high school, he began studies at the University of Oklahoma, until WW II intervened. In 1943, he joined the United States Army and served as a teletype operator until his honorable discharge in 1946. Gordon returned to Oklahoma and earned a B.A. in English and B.F.A. in Drama. He taught high school for several years before earning an M.F.A. and PhD in English Literature at the University of Colorado.

    Those degrees led to a teaching position at the University of Northern Iowa until Gordon eventually headed to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to earn an M.S. in Library Science. Employment at Western Michigan University's School of Library and Information Science brought Gordon to Kalamazoo in 1976. After the School closed, he transferred to the Central Reference Department of the University Libraries. He retired in 1990 but continued his involvement by helping to plan the first Friends of the University Libraries organization.

    Gordon also mentored students in Kalamazoo Public Schools and served as a volunteer at Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan and Bronson Hospital.

    Gordon's abiding passions were music and travel. He attended every classical music concert in Kalamazoo he could and supported many musical organizations, both financially and as a volunteer. Gordon's travels took him to Europe, Canada, and every county in the United States, except the four in Hawaii.

    Gordon was preceded in death by:
    his siblings, Ruth and Stewart.

    He is survived by nephew, Scott (Veronica) Eriksen of Bedford, Texas.

    Memorial donations may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the Heritage Community Foundation of Kalamazoo. Per Gordon's wishes, there will be no services. Burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date.

    Anne was the daughter of Loren and Ruth (Eriksen) Maples. She married Jerry Schultz October 15, 1983 in Dallas. Anne was a graduate of SMU with a BA in English. She was in the Real Estate Business for 42 years, the last 26 years with Coldwell Banker. Anne retired in 2008 and she and Jerry moved to Graham. Anne managed offices in Richardson, Dallas, and Plano and was Risk Manager for Coldwell Banker DFW for 4 years. She was a member of National Association of Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors, Real Estate Marketing Institute (CRB), CLSC, Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, and the First United Methodist Church in Graham.

    Survivors at time of death included her husband, Jerry Schultz of Graham; daughter, Erika Moore and husband, Tim of Paducah, TX; step-daughter, Lorena Troughton and husband, Will of Aberystwyth, Wales, UK; sister, Nancee Andrews and husband, Charles of Highland Village; grandchildren, Alyssa and Rory Moore both of Paducah, Ioan Lord and Eluned Troughton both of Aberystwyth, Wales, UK; cousin, Buddy Mayfield of Lubbock; several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by a sister, Kaye Caudill.
