3012 | Agnes Margaret Lagerquist AKA "Penny" was born on September 14, 1922 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Agnes Matilda Jacobsen Frederiksen and Ether Fredericksen. Her father Ether owned a farm in Sanford, Colorado but because of the depression they moved to Mar Vista California where he could get work. Penny was the youngest child and only girl of three children. Penny had two older brothers, Norman and Harold. They family traveled between California and Colorado. Her father would plant the crops, return to California, and then they would return back in time to harvest them. Penny attended Venice High School and was the Editor of the high school newspaper, The Gondolier. She then went on to Business College. Penny was very musically talented. She was a Coloratura Soprano and took voice lessons. Her voice teacher told her that he would give up all his students if she would go professional. She said she wanted to be married and have a family instead. Penny played the piano and when she was sixteen and the men went off to WWII, the Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints asked her and another sister if they would like to learn how to play the church organ. Penny played for all the church services; the choir and soloists for every Ward that she belonged to after that. She also played for weddings, funerals and the Santa Monica Moose lodge. Penny loved her church callings and held many different callings, working with the Mutual, Primary, and Relief Society sisters. She had many different jobs; she was the executive secretary for McDonald Douglas, the secretary for the doctor in charge of UCLA psychiatric clinic and an insurance subrogation officer for various insurance companies. Margaret or Penny as all of her friends and family knew her, met her husband William Lagerquist at her work, McDonald Douglas. They fell in love and were married on November 11, 1946. Penny and Bill reared four children. Susan Louise Blythe from a previous marriage, Britt Penelope, Christopher William and William Scott. Penny's husband Bill and both sons Christopher and William preceded her in death. Penny is survived by her daughters, Britt Elliott (husband Bill) and Susan Lundell. Grandson's James Rossello, Timothy Leasure (wife Jessica), Daniel Elliott (wife Carrie), David Elliott (wife Jennifer), Granddaughter Georgina Lagerquist Albro (husband Robert); great grandchildren, James Rossell Jr., Kimberly Rossello, Brandon Elliott, Brenden Elliott, Brittany Elliott, Harley Ann Leasure, Christopher Fielder, Victoria Fielder and Ryan Albro. | Frederiksen, Agnes Margaret (I36659)
