6217 | Mildred Irene Haney Faulkner, our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, has gone to spend the rest of eternity with the love of her life, James and her son, Kent. She passed away peacefully in her home August 1, surrounded by her family. She was born December 9, 1918 in Westminster, South Carolina to Edward and Talullah Haney. She married James Leroy Faulkner Aug. 16, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah. A year later, it was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Her husband's passing left a large void in her life, and she looked forward to their reunion. She was a quiet, unassuming person who never had an unkind word for anyone. She dedicated her life to caring for her family. She took in many relatives throughout her life, making sure that they always had a place to stay, a hot meal and were well cared for with love and compassion. We always knew we could count on her for anything we might need and she never expected anything in return. She loved the outdoors and spending time with her family at their cabin. She could often be found curled up on a chair, reading a book. She tried to instill her love of reading in others and spent many quiet afternoons reading to her grandchildren. She loved to bake for her family. Walking into her house, you were usually greeted by the smell of fresh baked goods; nothing could compare to her homemade bread. She always had something to offer and time to stop and chat with anyone who came to visit. She loved her dog, Keesha, who became her companion after the passing of her husband, who she missed dearly. In their younger days, she and her husband enjoyed square dancing, and were members of Happy Squares. Our special thanks to the caring individuals at CareSource for all their help over the past several months. She is survived by her children, Jim (Judy), Cindy, Gary (Margie), Karl (Kathy), her sister, Pauline Bowen, 18 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, son, Kent, brother, Harold and parents. Services will be held on Mon. August 6, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, SLC. Friends may call on Sunday, August 5, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
