Notater - Our precious mother, sister, grandma, great grandma, died at the age of 73.
She was born Oct. 19, 1925 to Basil John Oblad and Gladys Fay Anderson Oblad, in Sweedtown, UT. Died March 14, 1999.Mom went to school at age 4 to Washington Annex. From 3rd to 6th, Washington; 7th-9th Horace Mann; 10th-12th West High School, graduated in 1943. She went to work at W.T. Grants for a couple of years, (checking and selling). She worked part time and went to school. She married her high school sweetheart, Frank Blatnick, Sr. Sept 27th, 1943. They had five boys. Later divorced (March 1953). She raised five boys by herself until she met and married Alfred V. Walton, April 24th, 1957. They had four children. In 1977, she went to work at Deseret Industries. She worked in housekeeping twelve years and other departments (clothing, shoes and toys) another eight year, before retiring in Feb.,1998.
She has been in the Woodman club for over 64 years. She was lieutenant in the drill team, marched in 24th of July parades and carried the American flag. She also learned to tap dance in her younger years. She loved to travel to Preston and Grace ID. and California. And made a trip to Yellowstone. In 1996, she went out to Wendover. She loved going there with the boys and spent time playing the one-armed bandit. She even won a couple of times. She enjoyed bottling fruit, working in the yard and smelling the roses (they were her's and Alfred's favorites). She enjoyed taking the kids fishing and taking the grandchildren to the fish hatchery. She has had many trials in her life; she took care of her mother for six years in a rest home (only missing two days in all that time). She had diabetes for 26 years, kidney and heart failure the last year. Mom has done a lot in her life time and made many friends. She never missed a significant date in the life of a family member or friend.
