Notater - Obituary for Lois Ann Miller
La Jara-Lois Ann Miller (89) passed away at the Rio Grande Nursing Home in La Jara, Colorado with her family by her side, on October 11, 2016.
She was born June 27, 1927 in La Jara to Sarah Ann Shawcroft and Hans Frederiksen. She graduated from La Jara High School in 1945 and attended Adams State College. Lois married the late Morris C. Miller in Albuquerque, NM on Morris’s Birthday, July 1, 1947 and was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple November 24, 1958. Lois enjoyed 46 years of marriage until Morris passed away with cancer on April 2nd, 1993. Lois was able to go back to college in 1967 and graduated from her beloved Adams State College in 1969. She was a valued school librarian at the La Jara Elementary and Centauri High School from 1967 until 1992.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many callings in all of the auxiliaries. She was a temple ordinance worker at the Denver Temple from 1994 to 1998. She had several hobbies such as doll collecting, sewing, and reading. At the nursing home, she was a fan of watching the old 40’s turner classic movies. Her life was one of constant service to her family. She had a loving heart and always remembered her children and grandchildren by sending cards on birthdays and holidays.
She is survived by her children Ann Elaine (Kenneth) Butler-Fayetteville, GA; Monte (Marsha) Miller-Bayfield, CO; Kristine (John) Woods-Tacoma, WA ; Merrie Lynn (late-Roy) Chambers-Salt Lake City, UT; and Tracy (Jenny) Miller-La Jara, Co. Her pride and joy were her 20 grandchildren and 55 great grand children.
Visitation will be held in the Relief Society room at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in La Jara October 14 from 7:00 to 9:00pm and again October 15th from 10:00-10:45am. The funeral service will begin at 11:00am in the chapel, after which interment will follow at the Sanford cemetery.
