Samuel C. Jensen, Jr., 59, Topeka, died today in a Topeka hospital after a long illness. Born June 25, 1913 at Birmingham, Mo., he had lived in Topeka about 50 years. He worked for Shawnee County in the bridge and road construction department.
He served in the Army Corp of Engineers during World War II. He was past commander and past district commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars and past district commander of the Military Order of the Cootie. He was a charter member of the Moose Lodge of Topeka and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 17, AF&AM and the Third Christian Church.
Survivors include his widow, Blanche, of the home; a daughter, Beverly D. Poplin, Springfield, Ore.; 2 brothers, Robert Jensen, El Paso, Tex. and James Jensen, Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Frances Morgan, Dallas and 3 grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
