Notater - ALMO - James Albert Sheridan, age 98, of Almo, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley.
Jim was born in Almo, Idaho, on July 26, 1918, the son of Cecil Albert Sheridan and Eva Elizabeth Johnston. He married Dorothy Faye Warburton on June 12, 1948, and they were later sealed in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Jim and Dorothy raised four children, Marcia, Sherry, Cordell, and Marlon.
Jim’s father passed away when Jim was 19. He was the only son and had the responsibility of operating the family ranch for his mother and sisters. He called the ranch home for the remainder of his 98 years.
When he passed the ranch onto his son, Cordell, he went to work for the US Forest Service on a fire crew. He was then called to operate the Mount Harrison lookout for 22 years. A job and fellow employees that he loved. He enjoyed getting to know the many visitors and sharing his homemade oatmeal cookies. He retired at the age of 89, returning to the ranch, where he continued to raise tomatoes and do any chores he could up until his legs gave out.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; his wife, Dorothy; and a daughter, Marcia.
He is survived by his children, Sherry (Mike) Spencer of Yost, Utah, Cordell (Patty) Sheridan of Almo, and Marlon (Shiobhan) Sheridan of Sugar Hill, Gerogia; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at the Almo LDS Church, with Bishop Jason Tracy officiating. Burial will be at the Sunny Cedar Rest in Almo.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday preceding the service at the church.
