Notater - Robert Alexander Sorensen Sr., 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend, born Saturday, January 7, 1922 to Axel Carl Sorensen & Johanne Sophia (Sievertsen) Sorensen in Chicago, Illinois; went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Crosby, Texas with his loving family by his side.
Robert or better known as "Bob" by his family and friends has been a resident of the Crosby area for over sixty years. Originally of Chicago, Illinois; Bob left Chicago to serve his country proudly and honorably in the United States Army during the European conflict of World War II.
After his service to his country Bob returned to Chicago and soon after left to join family in Lakeland, Florida where he later finished his high school education and graduated from Lakeland High School. Later Bob and the love of his life Frances left Florida and settled in Houston, Texas where Bob worked at Armco, Inc. in Greens Bayou as a supervisor for thirty years before his retirement in 1982.
Bob stayed active after his retirement; as a member of the Crosby American Legion and played softball on the Baytown Seniors Softball League and enjoyed many things in his free time such as hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, tending to his yard and coaching little league. What he truly loved though were the times he shared with his beloved family and dear friends. Fond memories will always be cherished of Bob as he will be deeply missed by all those who had their lives touched by his.
Bob is preceded in death by his loving parents, Axel Carl & Johanne Sorensen.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of sixty ~ nine years, Frances LaFon Sorensen; his three loving sons, Robert "Bob" Alexander Sorensen Jr. & wife Johny, Jimmy Carl Sorensen & wife Beverly and Christopher Sorensen; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and numerous other loving family members and friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 5-8pm at Sterling ~ White Funeral Home in the Chapel. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 2:00pm at Sterling ~ White Cemetery at the Pavilion with burial following.
Pallbearers for the service will be, Jimmy Sorenson, Chris Sorenson, Bob Sorenson, Jamey Sorenson, Bobby Sorenson, Jared Sorenson, Joel Sorenson, Cameron Sorenson and Michael Lodrige.
Services have been entrusted to Sterling ~ White Funeral Home & Cemetery, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Road, Highlands, Texas 77562.
